Heinrich was baptized 21 Jun 1847 and confir med 29 Sep 1861. He apprenticed with his father as a merchant in Fileh ne's first farm supply, grocery and wine business starting October 1861. Later, he was active in various cities as a secretary of Royal Railroad Administration.

At age 19, Heinrich enlisted in the Gar defuss regiment in Berlin and was pen sioned off on 12 Sep 1880. During the campaign against France he was draf ted on 24 Jun 1870 and was assigned to a mobile batter y from 22 Jul 1870 to 25 Ju n 1871.

Heinrich took part in the battles of St. Privat on 18 Aug 1870, Beau mont on 30 Au g 1870, and Sedan on 1 Sep 1870. He also was involved in the bom bard ment of Mon tmed y on 5 Sep 1870, the siege of Paris from 19 Sep 1870 to 28 Jan 1871, and the attack at LeBouget on 21 Dec 1871.

During the siege of Paris 1870-71, Hein rich took a small amber colored door k nob from the Palace of Versailles near Paris, France. This souvenir was given to Alf red Henry Kramm by Alfred 's u ncle Georg Emil Kramm, in 1936 with the following notation, "He, ( Heinrich ) took no other souvenirs but the kisses of the girls he had said." The doork nob is still in the possession of Alfred Henry Kramm as of April 1988.

The Palace of Versailles, 1661-1756, was built for Louis the XIV by LeVau. Louis XIV later employed Jules Mansard to extend the palace North and South so as to form a building of over a quarter mile long. Other portions were add ed in 1756 for Louis XV by Gabriel. The historical significance of the palace is that here in 1871, King William of Prus sia was proclaimed German Emperor, and in 1919 Germany was forced to sign the peace terms required by the Allied Nations.

As a war casualty of a less serious nature, Heinrich received a civil care certificate and entered the royal rail road administration as a secretary, As such, he was transf erred to various cities of the Easter n provinces.

Af ter his wif e died in 1904, Heinrich took his sister, Martha Auguste, into the household for about 14 years. They first lived in Chariotten burg, then later in Berlin-Tem pelhof. Note: The sister had to be Martha Auguste since there were no other sisters alive. ( Elise Bertha Wilhelmine, the only other sister, had died in infancy in 1863.)
