Will Abstract

Will of George Wilson of the County of Augusta and State of Virginia.
... I do direct that all my Lands lying in the County & State aforesaid be equally divided between my two sons John and George Alfred (Wilson) according to quantity and quality also I give to my son Harvey Wilson and Jemima his wife all my Lands in Coles County Illinois to be theirs during their Lives and at their death I direct the same to be sold & the money equally divided among their several Children (their son William excepted), also I direct that my servants Burges & Margaret with their increase shall be and ___ the property of my beloved wife during her live.
Also I do direct that __ whole of my household furniture (excepting that which I gave to my daughter Isabella J. Shaffer and which at her death was returned to me which furniture I have given to my sons John and George Alfred Wilson) shall be and remain the absolute property of my beloved wife if she shall be living at the time of my decease.
Also I do direct that the net proceeds? of my personal Estate heretofore ordered my [sic] me to be disposed of be divided as equally as soon as it can be done share & share alike amongst my Wife and my several children who shall survive me (my son Harvey Wilson excepted) also I do direct that my Wife Isabella Wilson have one room in my dweling house (anyone she may prefer) for her use and hereafter during her life.
Also I direct that my sons John and George Alfred (Wilson) provide all necessary food and Clothing for my Wife during her Life.
Also I do direct that at the death of my Wife my servants Burges and Margaries with her increase by sold by my executors (but not to one tradeing in Negroes) for their reasonable value for current money on a Credit of twelve months and that the money be equally divided share and share alike amongst my several Children: James, William Jameson, Joseph, Nancy Hamilton, John and George Alfred.
Also I do direct that my daughter Nancy Hamilton be paid the sum of five hundred dollars by my sons John & George Alfred Wilson each to may the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars.
Also I do direct that the share of my real & personal estate thus bequeathed to my Wife be in lieu of her dower at Common Law if she shall so elect.
Also I do hereby make and ordain my sons James and Joseph Wilson executors of this my Last Will and Testament.
In witness thereof I George Wilson the testator have to this my Will written on one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this eighteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty seven.

Augusta County Court October 22nd 1849
This paper of writing purporting the Last Will and Testament of George Wilson dec'd with a Codicil annexed was presented in Court and said Will proved by the oath of A.J. Garer one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and Continued for further proff.

Augusta County Court October 23rd 1849
This paper in writing purporting the Last Will & Testament of George Wilson dec'd. with a Codicil annexed was this day further proved in Court as to the said Will by the oath of Samuel Peaes? Jr. a subscribing witness thereto and ordered to be recorded (without regard as to the Codicil no proff being offered as to it), and on the motion of James Wilson and Joseph Wilson the executors named in said Will (who made oath according to Law and with Jno. Wilson and William S. Wilson their securities (who Justified as to their Sufficiency) here in open Court entered into and acknowledged a bond in the sum of Four thousand dollars conditioned as the Law directs which bond is ordered to be recorded. Certificate is granted the said James Wilson and Joseph Wilson for obtaining a probate of said Will in due form.

Codicil
Coles County Illinois Wills, M-Z, 1844-1890
Whereas, I George Wilson of the County of Augusta & State of Va; having made & duly executed my last will & testament in writing bearing date the 18th day of February one thousand eight hundred & forth seven now do hereby declars this present writing to be as @ codicil to my said will and direct the same to be annexed thereto & taken as fact thereof, And I do hereby direct that my servants Burgy & Margaret with her increase, ordered in my will to be sold under the following instructions, to wit: That no one be allowed to bid on them only my children & son-in-law Wm. Hamilton.
In witness whereof I the said George Wilson have to this codicil set my hand & seal this 19th day of February 1847
