Facts and Events
An unsourced narrative at Find A Grave says that George and Mary, along with their first two daughters, took a covered sago to Moody County, Dakota Territory, in March 1877. They homesteaded north of Dell Rapids, with Mary staying with the children while George went to Worthington, MN to work. In 1880, the family lived near John Quigley, also from Wisconsin, and John and George filed for homestead patents in the same section on the same day in March 1884. In 1886, John married George's widowed sister Mattie, in Flandreau, whom he presumably met through George. The Find A Grave profile also says that the family moved to Dell Rapids in 1888, and George worked at the quarry until his death in 1904. References
