Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wessels Celebrate Their Golden Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wessels, 708 S. Broadway, Urbana, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary over the weekend.

The couple was married Dec 5,1909, in Milford. Mrs. Wessels is the former Emma Rapp, daughter of the late Charles Rapp. Mr. Wessels is the son of the late Mr.and Mrs. George Wessels.

Their children include Mrs. Edward J. Langhoff, Lansing; Mrs. Merle McGahey, Los Angeles, Calif.; Wendell Wessels, Champaign; and Russell Wessels, Whitewater, Wis.

They have seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

The entire family with the exception of two grandchildren was present Saturday evening at a spaghetti dinner at the home of Wendell Wessels, 803 W. Vine. Sunday morning they attended the Trinity Lutheran Church together. The anniversary dinner was at the Urbana-Lincoln-Motor Inn in the Hunt Room.

Illinois Guests Honored With Sunday Dinner

Mr and Mrs G H Rudowske honored their Illinois guests, Fred Wessels, Urbana, and Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Wessels, Champaign, with a dinner Sunday at her home. Guests present were Mr and Mrs. Alfred Wessels and two sons Roger and Francis. Also in attendance was Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Mominsen, Miss Arlene Mommsen, Memphis, TN., and Mrs. Oscar Wessels and children, Ruby and Billy, Pine Bluff, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mommsen and daugher, Leslie, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wessels and daughter, Debbie, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mollenkopf and son, Ray Lewis, Mrs Selina Brasko, Raymond Rudowske, Adolf Wessels and Fred Wessels.

[RRW] Fred Wessels, son of Gerd Wessels, was found in the 1900 U S CENSUS, State of Illinois, Iroquois County, Crescent Township, Sheet 5 B. He was 13 years old and single. Fred did not appear in the 1910 census under Gerd Wessels' family, he married in 1909.
