Floyd Lestina

Funeral services for Floyd Lestina were held Monday, October 15, 1984, at Garden City United Methodist (brick) Church at 1:00 pm. Officiating was Rev. Marion Bloodworth. Pallbearers were Dale Henning, Loren Plozel, Don Bailey, Franklin Schlitter, Robert Tayek, and Gilbert Wiethorn Jr. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Floyd Jake Lestina, the son of Frank A. and Martha (Plozel) Lestina, was born July 18 1904 in Giard township, Clayton County, Iowa, in the Schlein house on Bloody Run. When he was a year and a half his parents moved to Nashua, Iowa, where they lived for 10 years. In 1914 they moved to the farm he was presently living on. He received his education in the area school. During the years he was Constable for 2 years, School Director of 7 years, President of the Giard Election Board for 2 years, Assistant Clerk for 19 years, on the Giard Township Fire Board for 50 years, Director on the Northeast Iowa Telephone Company for 20 years, active member of the Sportsman Club and for 60 years he was caretaker of St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. On January 1, 1939, he was united in marriage to Alma Cunningham at the Methodist Parsonage at McGregor, Iowa. To this union two sons were born. He died Friday, October 12, 1984, at Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, after a short illness.

Surviving are his wife, Alma, his sons and their wives, Roger and Sharon of Bloomington, Wis., and Reed and Sue of Prairie du Chien, 2 grandchildren, his sister Mrs. Elmer (Margaret) Schlitter, McGregor, Iowa.

Floyd J. Lestina

MCGREGOR, Iowa -- Floyd J. Lestina, 80, of rural McGregor died Friday morning at Prairie du Chien (Wis.) Memorial Hospital.

Services will be at 1 pm Monday at Garden City United Methodist (Brick) Church in Monona, Iowa, with burial in Monona City Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 pm Sunday at Schultz Funeral Home in Monona, where the prayer service will be at 8 pm Sunday.

Surviving are his wife, the former Alma Cunningham; two sons, Roger of Bloomington, Wis., and Reed of Prairie du Chien; two grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Elmer (Margaret) Schlitter of McGregor.
