From the November 3, 1993, edition of the Postville (IA) Herald-Leader Margaret Schlitter Margaret Schlitter, daughter of Frank A. and Martha Plozel Lestina, was born April 29, 1913, at Nashua, Iowa. She died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1993, at the Great River Care Center, McGregor. She was 80. She received her education in the Cooper Valley School, rural McGregor. She married Elmer Schlitter on Sept. 15, 1936, at the E.U.S. parsonage, the Rev. Zeller officiating. To this union, three children were born. She was a housewife and worked as a cook for 25 years at White Springs, McGregor, and several restaurants in Prairie du Chien. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and animals. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Floyd. Survivors include her husband, Elmer; two daughters and their husbands, Deanna and Harold Krambeer of St. Olaf and Carol and James Chase of Farmersburg; one son and his wife, Franklin and Sandie Schlitter of McGregor; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Alma Lestina of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 30, 1993, at the Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona, with Rev. Gary Dobbins officiating. Burial was in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, rural McGregor.
