From the October 10, 1946, edition of the Monona (IA) Leader Frank Lestina Services Held Funeral services for Frank A. Lestina, 68, were held last Friday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Patrick's church with Father Luke Donlon reading the requiem mass. Burial was in St. Wenceslaus cemetery. Mr. Lestina died at his home Wednesday morning, Oct. 2, after a long illness. He was born a son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lestina Aug. 22, 1878, in Giard township. He was married to Martha Plozel June 9, 1902. Upon their marriage, he worked on the section, later becoming foreman for the Milwaukee railroad for a number of years. In 1907 they moved to Nashua, where they farmed for a number of years. They then moved to a farm east of Monona, which has been their home ever since. He is survived by his widow; a son, Floyd, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Margaret) Schlitter of near Farmersburg; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Moses and Mrs. Albert Moses, both of Monona; and four grandchildren. Three brothers, John, Albert and Joe, along with a sister, who died in infancy, preceded him in death. Pallbearers were: John Jermier, John Seglar, Albert Holly, Ben Lestina, Joe Tayek and Martin Vlazny. Those from a distance who attended the funeral services were: Mrs. Raymond Huxsol, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hatzky, Alfred Hatzky, George Jermier and Mrs. Albert Jermier, all of Charles City; Mrs. Tillie Love of Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jermier, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Sudol Jr., Jake Sudol, Mr. and Mrs. P.B. Miller and Lilleth, Miss Anna Plozel and Mrs. Guy Wright of Nashua; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Morris of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Vlad Macha of Mabel, Minn.; Frank Samek of Postville; Clifford Pilkington of Springview, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Pilkington, Mr. and Mrs. Cliffor Pilkington and Mrs. Ida Zirbes and Glen, all of McGregor; and Mrs. John Tayek of Marquette. Image Gallery
