On 16 Jan 1836, Joel and Volney (Major's Brothers) sold Major for $100 a part of a lot of land, B11, T8, S10, with the exception of 20 Acres at the east end. This indenture was signed by Joel Adams, Volney Adams, Mary Adams, and L. Prudence Adams.

On 26 Jan 1836, Major sold the above mentioned land to Hiram Gard for $100. Major Adams and Roxanna Adams signed this indenture. Roxanna signed "X".

On 3 April 1841, James Johnson and wife, Elizabeth sold to Major Adams for $100 three-fourths of an acre more or less. Quote from indenture: "Bounded as follows (viz) beginning at a stake near a large sycamore at the mouth of big rock run, thence up the Muskingum river eleven rods to a stake, thence southerly ten rods to a stake, thence easterly eleven rods to a stake, thence northerly to the place of beginning being part of log number thirty-six (36) in the Muskingum allotment of donation lands situate in the eighth (8) township and eleven (11) range."

From the diary of Elias Howe Wolcott of Watertown twp, Washington County, OH: "12 Feb 1854 Major Adams abused his son lately".

The year is not definite when they moved to Wapsie Twp, Linn County, IA. This move was possibly influenced by Roxanna's Uncle Reuben Nott and family who left Ohio in 1852 and traveled by steamboat down the Ohio and up the Mississippi Rivers to Iowa. It is not known if Major and Roxanna traveled the same way. There is also a possibility that a visit was made to Roxanna's Brother, Dr. Thomas Nott, who lived in Fulton County, IL at this time. It is also a stong possibility that Roxanna's niece, Nanncy Nott, daughter of Vandivere and Mary Nott, traveled with Major and Roxanna to Iowa.
