Brown: 240/229, EVAN WATTS, 40 M W, farmer, OH; Angeline, 35 F W, keeping house, OH; Byron, 12 M W, farm labor, IN; Ida, 8 F W, IL; Bertie, 3 F W, IL; Grace, 5/12 F W, IL. Angeline died May 30, 1871, age 38y 6m 19d (b. Nov. 11, 1832); three known children (Theodocia, Chester, and presumably Grace) are buried near her in Bodkin Cemetery, Vance Twp., Vermilion Co., IL. --Gary Purviance, e-mail attachment, Jan. 3, 2005 no date [ca. 1873], Ada Wyckoff Hopkins wrote her cousin Jane Love: "I received a letter from Sarah Dolby in which she writes that . . . Evan Watts, wife & one child* are dead."
Correspondence from the family letters and papers of Jane Love and her cousin, Lillice Jones Harper, courtesy John, Danny, and Dave Harper in 2001 and 2004, transcribed by Brenda Boyer 1875 March 26, Samuel Dalbey appeared in Vermilion County Court with Byron Watts who asked that Samuel be appointed his guardian. Samuel also requested the court appoint him guardian of Ida and Alberta Watts as their parents were both dead.
