Eva Ann McMillin married John Copas in Columbiana County, Ohio about 1842. Although no marriage record is found, their first daughter was born in December 1842.

1850 US CENSUS, Salem Township, Meigs Co, Ohio. Husband John Copas is age 32, Farmer. Eva's name is spelled "Epha" and she is age 27. Daughter Lucy Ann age 8, Henry age 6, Mary age 1.

1860 US CENSUS, Clayton Township, Crawford Co, Wisc. Household #1160. John Copas is age 40, Farmer, born OH "Epha" is age 38, born OH; Lucy Ann is age 17, born OH; Henry is age 16, born OH; Mary is age 12, born OH; James is age 9, born OH; George is age 8, Sanford is age 5, born OH; Franklin is age 1, born WI. Household #1159 is father Henry McMillin, living alone. Household #1161 is John Copas' brother, Thomas Copas and his family.

1870 US CENSUS, Clayton Township, Crawford Co, Wisc. Househld #44. John Copas is age 50, born in OH; Eva A. is age 48, born in OH, Henry is age 26 born in PA; Mary J. is age 22 born in PA; James is age 17 born in PA; George W. is age 16 born in PA; Sanford is age 14 born in PA; Franklin is age 10 born in WI; Susannah is age 8 born in WI; John is age 5 born in WI.

• Eva and John did not have a son named Jack. I believe this is their grandson, Jack Dobbs that came to live with them after Jack's mother, Lucy Ann Copus, died in 1872.

1900 US CENSUS, Clayton Township, Crawford Co, Wisc: Eve A. Copas is widowed, age 78, born Aug 1821 in Ohio, (11) children born (9)living. Living with daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Samuel Pinkham. Also living with the Pinkham's is Eva's brother Henry McMillin, age 76.

1905 Wisconsin State Census, Clayton, Crawford Co. Copas, Eva A. mother-in-law, Age 82, born OH, living with daughter Susan Pinkham's family.

1910 US CENSUS, Clayton District #2, Crawford Co, Wisc. Eva is now age 87, still living with Susan and Samuel Pinkham, (9) children born(7)living.

Sept. 13, 1912, Death Record, Crawford County, Wisc. Name: Eva Copus, born Aug 14, 1822, Age 90 years, 0 months, 29 days, widowed. Shows father as Henry McMillen born in Pennsylvania, Mother is shown as Elizabeth Smith** born in Pennsylvania. Informant is Henry Copus, Gays Mills, WI. Cause of death is listed as "Senile dibility" and contributory as "Sciatic Rheumatism". Burial is in Mook Cemetery, Soldiers Grove.

Doreen's note: Eve's death certificate is the only one of her siblings showing her mother's last name as Smith. Four of her other sibling's death certificate show her last name as Beard. It is possible Elizabeth Beard divorced Henry McMillin and remarried to a Smith, but no records of this have been found. See her father, Jacob Abraham Beard's will showing daughter Elizabeth Beard married to Henry McMillin, as well as their marriage record from Columbiana Co., Ohio Oct. 31, 1820.
