St. Peter Herald, Friday, December 12, 1912 - Obituary: DEATH SUMMONS AGED WOMAN. Mrs. Lucy Parsons Lived Four Score Years and Ten. Having lived beyond the allotted four score and ten, Mrs. Lucy Ann McMillan Parson, one of the pioneer women of Nicollet County, passed away in her home in Traverse early last Friday evening. She had reached the ripe old age of ninety-one, and had lived in Minnesota nearly half a century.

Mrs. Parsons was a native of Pennsylvania, where she was born in 1821. She was the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Beard) McMillan. Henry Parson (s/b McMillin), who was of Scotch parentage, was a native of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and his wife was born in Philadelphia of a Pennsylvania Dutch Family. They spent their closing years in Crawford County, Wisconsin and both died there.

The deceased was married in Gallia County, Ohio to the late Jesse C. Parsons, and after their marriage moved to Hancock County, Illinois, settling near Carthage. During the great Civil War Mr. Parsons served in the Union Army and at its close, in 1865, they came to Minnesota, and settled inTraverse. It has since been her home, and in spite of her advanced age, Mrs. Parsons took great interest in the social life of her community.

Mrs. Parsons enjoyed excellent health until two weeks before her death. Then she met with an accident, injuring one of her hips in a fall. When compelled to take to her bed, she failed rapidly, and the end came just before 7 o’clock last Friday evening.

The deceased is survived by four sons and a daughter as follows: Mrs. Peter Young, Andrew, Jesse, Henry and Charles Parson. Her funeral was held from the home at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. W. N. Courtice, pastor of the Union Presbyterian church, conducted the services, and the remains were laid to rest in Green Hill Cemetery.
