Ellen Fernihough was baptised on 4th May 1686 at Marton in Cheshire, daughter of Ellen Fernihough, formerly Thompson, and her husband John Fernihough, a yeoman.

On 2nd October 1716, aged 30, Ellen married Thomas Henshaw at Marton. No evidence has been found of them having any children. At some point after their marriage they moved to the nearby town of Macclesfield.

Ellen's mother died in 1725.

Thomas died in 1733 at Macclesfield. Ellen and her father administered his estate and prepared an inventory of his goods after his death. Ellen returned to live in Marton after Thomas's death.

Ellen's father died in 1739. He appears to have died with some debts, as his leasehold estate at Marton was left for an initial period in which money to pay his debts was to be raised from the estate. Once those debts were paid the estate was to pass to Ellen's younger sister Ann, who was to pay various allowances from the profits, including an allowance of one pound a year to Ellen.

Ellen died at the age of 68. She was buried at Marton on 18th January 1755.
