Facts and Events
Ann Fernihough was baptised on 9th July 1706 at Marton in Cheshire, daughter of Ellen Fernihough, formerly Thompson, and her husband John Fernihough, a yeoman. Ann was their youngest child. Ann's mother died in 1725.
In 1736 Ann married a blacksmith called Jacob Walker at Siddington. They do not appear to have had any children.
Ann's father died in 1739. He left his property at Marton to be held for an initial period to earn money to pay off his debts, but once that was done it was to pass to Ann.
It is not clear when Jacob died. He wrote a will in 1757, but then appears to have started writing other draft undated wills some time later. He died some time before March 1777, when Ann had to make a declaration to the court that she had only found the draft wills, although she believed a completed will did exist. She described Jacob as a yeoman of Marton in this declaration. She found the 1757 will later that year, proving it in September 1777.
The following month, Ann wrote her own will. She left two hundred pounds to a nephew, John Fletcher, who was presumably son of her sister Katherine, and the residue to Ellen Moore, who was her great niece, being the granddaughter of Ann's late brother John.
Ann died at the age of 72, being buried at Marton on 31st December 1778.
