[edit] ObituaryEleanora (Massie) Schneider, 94, of St. Paris, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024, in Clay Gardens, Zanesville, Ohio. She was born on April 6, 1929, in South Charleston, Ohio, to Walter and Elva (Slagle) Massie. Eleanora was the postmaster in St. Paris for many years. She was a member of the St. Paris United Methodist Church and VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She loved playing cards, table games, eating out, gardening and spending time with her family and grandkids. In her early years, she enjoyed camping. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and it wasn’t Christmas unless the family was together with her at her house on Christmas morning. Eleanora is survived by her daughter, Laura (Paul) Medaugh; daughter-in-law, Patsi Schneider; five grandchildren: Joni Medaugh, Angela (Jacob) Medaugh Godshall, Jessica Medaugh, David Schneider, and Hannah Schneider; two great-grandchildren: Jonah and Daniel Godshall; brother, Jerry (Gloria) Massie; sister-in-law, Sandra Massie; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James B. Schneider Jr.; son, J. Michael Schneider; brothers: Francis (Anna Jane) Massie, Raymond (Margie) Massie and Roger Massie; sisters: Marcella (Roger) Mahan, Eloise (Russel) Putnam, Mary (Bill) Lee, Rosella (Clyde) Lee and Agnes (John) Lemmon. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M on Thursday, February 29, 2024, in the ATKINS, SHIVELY & VERNON Funeral Home, St Paris, Ohio. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 1, 2024, in the St. Paris United Methodist Church with Pastor Frank Kampel officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, St. Paris, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paris United Methodist Church.
