[edit] ObituaryTroy Daily News, (Troy, Ohio) 21 Apr 2010, Wed, Page 5 ST. PARIS - James B. Schneider Jr., 80, of St. Paris, passed away at 9:10 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Akron, on June 28, 1929, the son of the late James B. and Odetta R. (Flora) Schneider Sr. He married Eleanora F. Massie on March 17, 1951, and she survives. A daughter, Laura (Paul) Medaugh of Dresden and daughter-in-law, Patsi Schneider of Logan, also survive him. He was a loving grandfather to five grandchildren, Joni Medaugh of Zanesville, Angela Medaugh of San Diego, Calif., Jessica Medaugh of Dresden, David Schneider of Columbus and Hannah Schneider of Logan. He is also survived by one sister, Betty (Paul) Heath of Quincy and one brother, Robert (Mildred) Schneider of Urbana. In addition to his parents, a son, J. Michael Schneider, preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 2009. Jim was a 1947 graduate of Rosewood High School. He went on to Hobart Welding School and became employed by Hobart Corp, Troy, where he retired in 1991 with 27 years of service. He was a member of the St. Paris United Methodist Church. Jim serviced in the Korean War from 1950-52. He was a life member of the Keith Cretors American Legion Post 148, The Philip Grieser VFW Post 7645, both of St. Paris, Society of the 3rd Infantry Division and 15th Infantry Regiment and Korean Veterans. Jim was elected to National Aide-De-Camps from 1994-95. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, in St. Paris United Methodist Church, 208 W. Walnut St., St. Paris, with Pastor Dave Kepple presiding. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, St. Paris, with military honors by the Veteran's Elite Tribute Squad of Piqua. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home. 216 W. Springfield St., St. Paris.
