Edmund Woolvin was baptised on 2nd July 1826 at Donnington in Sussex, son of William and Elizabeth Woolvin. He appears in the 1841 census living at Donnington with his widowed mother and a George Woolvin (probably a brother).
In 1844, Edmund married Emily Grant. She was originally from the neighbouring village of Sidlesham, although she had been working as a servant at Rose Farm in Donnington in the 1841 census. They moved to nearby North Mundham, where they lived at the hamlet of Brinfast and Edmund worked as an agricultural labourer. They had ten children between 1845 and 1867, although the first two (who were twins) died before they could be named.
Edmund died in 1891, aged 71. Emily outlived him by about ten years.
