After his marriage to Sarah, they lived in Detroit. Worked at the Grand Railroad. After more studies in Math and mechanical drawing, he became a machinist and worked on private projects for a personal friend, Edsel Ford. Dewitt and Sarah attended several Ford parties and on one occasion she danced with Henry Ford. After 14 years with Ford, he left to become an independent business man. He joined his younger brother, Omar, in organizing and operating a butter and egg business in Birmingham. Had high esteem for his humor and integrity, loved by his family, friends and associates for his honest character, his modest and understanding nature.
