Daniel King was baptised on 8th February 1846 at Southwick in Sussex, son of Mary Ann King, formerly Grant, and her husband Daniel Grant. He appears with his parents and siblings in the 1851 census living at Hove. By 1861 the family had moved to Chichester, and Daniel was working as an engine driver. He has yet to be researched after 1861.
