Mary Ann King was born in late 1850 or early 1851 at Hove in Sussex, daughter of Mary Ann King, formerly Grant, and her husband Daniel King, a brickmaker's labourer and later railway porter. Mary appears in the 1851 census living with her parents and siblings at 17 Hove Street in Hove. By 1861 the family had moved to Chichester, living at Basin Road. Mary has yet to be researched after 1861.
