DURGEE, brother of Mrs. John Busek, R D. 5, and Mrs. Matie Miller, 119 Fort Stanwix Park South, has returned to Campbell, KY after spending a 10-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Durgee who took part in the Battle of the Bulge, is now stationed at Burgheaven, Germany, near the Austrian border. A member of Gen. George S. Patton's Third Army, he was given a furlough after V-E Day and went on a 700 mile airplane trip... sometime in Paris and the Riviera... S/Sgt. He was born in the Town of Ellisburg, NY, son of Wesley C. and Mirandia Baker Durgee. He attended Pulaski Schools. He married Avis Drake in 1930 in Pulaski. He had lived in Rome for the past six years and before that in Central Square. Mr. Durgee was a self-employed carpenter and formerly worked for Oppers Kitchens in Rome. He served with the Army in the European Theatre during World War II. He was a member of St. Paul's Church in Rome and the Henry P. Smith Post of the VFW in Rome. He leaves a son, John R. Durgee of Parish, two sisters Mrs. Sylvester (Dorothy) Kundell of Sandy Creek and Mrs. John (Eva) Busek of Rome, a brother Harry S. Durgee of Pierpont Manor, NY. The funeral will be...
