Mexico Independent, Parish Mirror, 2 July 1942: PARISH COUPLE WED PARISH-- Miss Avis Drake of Pulaski and Lewis DeGarmo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph DeGarmo, were married Sunday June 14 at Big Moose Chapel, Big Moose, by the resident pastor. Mr. and Mrs. DeGarmo have returned from a short wedding trip, after spending several days at Higby Camp, Big Moose, and are making their home in North Railroad ST

Oswego County Messenger, 17 Dec. 1980: MRS. AVIS M. DEGARMO Parish-- Mrs. Avis M. DeGarmo died Monday morning at Crouse-Irving Hospital, Syracuse, after a long illness. She was born in Syracuse, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Drake. She attended Parish High School and was a resident of the Parish area most of her life. She was a former employee of General Electric Co. in Syracuse. She graduated from Beaux Arts School of Cosmetology in Syracuse and also received instruction from Bruno's of Canada. Mrs. DeGarmo was a licensed beautician in the states of Florida and New York. She opened her own beauty parlor in Parish in 1958 and retired in 1975. She was later employed by Deanne's Beauty Shop in Central Square. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Mexico and was a volunteer at the senior nutrition site in Parish. Surviving are her husband, Mayor Lewis A. DeGarmo of Parish; a son, John of Central Square; a grand-daughter, Mrs. William Richards of New London, CT; a great-grandson, William Richards of CT; a sister, Mrs. Augusta Tubbs of Mexico and a brother, Willis Drake of Red Creek. Services will be... today in Grace Episcopal Church, Mexico. Burial will be in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery.
