MILLER DIES AT 54 Mrs. Matie Miller, 54, died at her home, 119 Ft. Stanwix Park S, yesterday morning. She had lived in Rome for the past 20 years and operated a boarding house at her residence. Born June 11, 1898 in Orwell, she was a daughter of Wesley and Miranda Durgee. She moved to Ellisburg with her family when a child and was educated there. In 1922 she was married to William [!] Miller in Bellville. She attended St. Peter's Church, Rome. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Erwin White, Swain; a son, Lawrence Wood, Buffalo; two sisters, Mrs. John Busek, Rome, and Mrs. Dorothy Taxert, Pulaski; two brothers, Harry Durgee, Pierrpont Manor, and Cornelius Durgee, Mexico NY, and three grandsons. Syracuse Herald Journal, 11 Nov 1952: MRS. MILLER TO BE BURIED IN PULASKI Mrs. Mattie Amelia Miller, 54, daughter of Mrs. Wesley Durgee of this village, died at her home in Rome N.Y. Sunday of a coronary thrombosis. Mrs. Miller was born in Orwell on June 11, 1898, the daughter of Manda Baker Durgee and the late Wesley Durgee. When a young girl she moved to Ellisburg with her family and attended schools there, later coming to Pulaski with her family. She had lived in Rome for the past 10 years, where she was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She is survived by her mother; a daughter, Mrs. Elwin White of Swain NY; a son, Lawrence of Buffalo; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Favret of Pulaski and Mrs. John Busek of Rome; two brothers, Harry Durgee of Pierpont Manor and Cornelius of Mexico; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from St. John the Evangelist Church, Pulaski... Wednesday... Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery. References
