Facts and Events
Chester was Vice President for Sales for M. B. Claff & Sons all his life. In his youth his father turned him out to earn his own living after graduation from Bowdoin, where he majored in foreign languages. He sold vacuum cleaners and radios and met Ruth Wallace while doing so in Newark, NJ. After marriage he took his interest in radio to Augusta, ME, where Patricia was born. Chester loved new cars, dogs, electronics, and gracious living. After divorcing Ruth and marrying Hazel in the mid-1930s, in later years he was District Governor of Rotary, District 795 1960-61, initiating the Rotary's "Million Dollar Meal", built a house on Wings Neck, Cape Cod, and wintered in Sarasota, FL. He sold his home at 333 West Street, Randolph, MA, in 1971, and moved permanently to Florida. --Other Fields Ref Number: CLA0200H |
