Facts and Events
In the late 1890s Mark founded M. B. Claff & Sons, Inc., in Randolph, MA, a manufacturer of shoeboxes for the local shoe industry. His sons and grandsons all worked there until the company was sold in 1980 and then liquidated. He was fortunate to have the services of Carl Moeller, a practical engineer, who developed the "Claff Machine" for making boxes from a continuous web, which operated from about 1925 to 1980 and supported the family handily. Mark and Ruth Wallace Claff attended opera in Boston often.
Chester Claff Jr. used birthdate of 15 May 1868 and birthplace of Riga Latvia. |
