The funeral of Mrs. Charlotte (Brown)Helfferich was held Friday afternoon from the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. A. (Sarah Adelaide) Miller of Valley Ave.
Mrs Helfferich was an old pioneer of Grand Traverse County. Her house was the only house between Traverse City and Old Mission. And the Indians were wearing their War Paint. Her husband died about 15 years ago.
Mrs. Helfferich came to this city a few years ago to live with her daughter at whose home death occured.
The deceased was 76 years of age and leaves six children, twent-nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Mrs Helfferich was the mother of John, Henry, George and Edward of Ogdensburg and Mrs. S.A. Miller(says Hoffmaster, but that is a mistake in the obituary.) and Mrs. Emma Cautavo, both of this city.
Rev. T.P. Ullom preached the funeral service. The floral offerings were man and beautiful. She will be missed by many as she was loved by all who knew her and will be remembered as a nurse for many years.
The remains were laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery, Traverse City.
If she were 76 years of age as indicated in the paper, she would have been born in 1828. Records show her born April 1838 in N.Y. The paper could be wrong. Fife Lake Cemetery shows Charlotte(Brown) Helferich there.
