Personal History

Charles Anderson, son of Francis Anderson and Mary[1] (Pelham), was baptized 12 December 1712 in the parish of Broughton (by Brigg), Lincolnshire, England.[1]

In 1758, his brother Francis appointed Charles to be an executor of his last will and testament. On 23 March 1763, at London, Charles appeared before a surrogate of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury to give oath to prove the will and to be granted administration with the wife of Francis.[5]

On 26 March 1763, Charles was granted administration of the estate of his uncle Charles Pelham because he was the guardian of his nephew, Charles Anderson, who was the named executor of the last will and testament. Administration ceased after the minor attained the age of 17 years and appeared before the Surrogate to give oath on 30 July 1770, at London.[6]

Death and Probate

Charles Anderson died on 28 January 1780[4] and was buried on 2 February in the parish of Broughton (by Brigg).[2]

In his will dated 14 December 1779, Charles Anderson of Manby, Lincolnshire, named Sir John Nelthorpe of Barton upon Humber, Lincolnshire, Baronet, the Rev. John Empson of Scawby, Lincolnshire, clerk, and William Hesleden of Barton upon Humber, gentleman, to be trustees of his estate. The will was proved by the oaths of the trustees and administration was granted on 11 April 1780, at London, in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury.[3]
