Personal History

Charles Pelham, (Esq.,) (second) son of Charles Pelham, armiger,[1] was born on 26 May and baptized on 6 June 1679 in the parish of Brocklesby, Lincolnshire, England.[1] At birth Charles was his father's only living son and heir.

In 1725 Charles was appointed by his mother to be sole executor of her last will and testament. On 29 March 1726, the will was proved and administration was granted.[5]

Death and Probate

Charles Pelham died on 6 February 1763,[3] and he was buried on 12 February in the parish of Brocklesby.[2]

In his will dated 4 May 1760,[4] Charles Pelham named his great nephew Charles Anderson to be sole executor. On 26 March 1763, administration was first granted to Charles Anderson, nephew of the testator, who was the uncle and guardian of the named executor then a minor. After attaining the age of 17 years and taking the surname Pelham, the executor Charles Anderson Pelham appeared before the Surrogate on 30 July 1770, at London, to give oath to prove the will and be granted administration.
