Personal History
Charles Maude Worsley Anderson Pelham,[1][2][4] son of Charles Anderson Worsley Anderson Pelham (later Earl of Yarborough) and Maria Adelaide[1] (Maude), was baptized on 15 February 1835 in the parish of Broughton (by Brigg), Lincolnshire, England.[1] After his father succeeded to the earldom in 1846, Charles was styled Lord Worsley.
On 26 April 1853[5] Charles was commissioned to be lieutenant in the Royal North Lincoln Militia, and on 12 September[6] he was promoted to captain, a commission he held until resigning by 14 August 1858.[8]
On 8 April 1856,[7] Charles was made Deputy Lieutenant of Lincolnshire.
On 14 May 1860[9] Charles was commissioned to be lieutenant-colonel of the 1st Battalion Lincolnshire Rifle Volunteers which he resigned by 19 June 1863.[10][11] On 10 July 1867[12] Charles was commissioned to be captain of the 1st Lincolnshire Light Horse Volunteer Corps.
Upon the death of his father on 7 January 1862, Charles succeeded as Earl of Yarborough (3rd, created 1837), and Baron Worsley of Apuldurcombe (3rd, 1837), in the United Kingdom; and Baron Yarborough (4th, 1794), in Great Britain.
Death and Probate
The Right Hon. Charles Maude Worsley Earl of Yarborough, then of Arlington street, Piccadilly, in Middlesex, and of Brocklesby, Lincolnshire, died on 6 February 1875[2][4] at Arlington street[2] (registered in the district of St. George Hanover Square[3]).
On 10 May 1875 in the Principal Registry,[2][4] his will was proved by the executors, his wife the Right Hon. Victoria Alexandrina Countess of Yarborough and Godfrey Tallents Esq. of Newark-upon-Trent, Nottinghamshire. His effects were under £180,000.
