Know your Eynon and Related Families by Luella Grace Eynon Garton: According to personal records kept by three of Richard Eynon's children, Margret, Martha and Mary Ann, they each said they were baptized in 1849 in Wales. Catherine was bapt. Jan 18, 1852 in Wales. Catherine was born at Landshipping, 30 Dec 1843 [birth certificate] and chrs. 20 Jan 1844. She had a beautiful singing voice and was selcted to sing as a soprano in the National Welsh Estedfod. This group traveled to North Wales one year and the next year to South Wales. She met a well-dressed man named John Lewis of fine character and a tailor. He came from Carmarthenshire but had come to Mountain Ash, Glam to live. They married 21 Dec 1864 in Thomas Town, Glam., and her age as 21 yrs. John was 2 years old and lived at Twynyradyn, Carm. Married by banns at St. David Parish in Merthyr Tydfil. He was a fine man and quite firm. He was courteous to the Mormon missionaries but told them he did not wish them to teach the gospel in his home. He was a strong member of the Church of England. He demanded that their children be reared in that church, but Catherine attended her own church whenever possible. She loved her husband but her heart was sad because of religious differences. John tailored many of the clothes for the Royalty. He sdid fine tailoring and was known as the Tailor.

Catherine wrote from Wales that she and Flora would like to be with her children in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Her sons, sent her money and they came. They arrived at Rock Springs, Wyoming in the fall of 1893. Catherine was a beautiful homemaker, very dignified and neatly dressed, even while doing her housework. She always wore a starched apron and set a pretty table. She loved to cook dainty cakes and pies and plenty of nourishing food as well. Catherine, with David and Flora, moved to Montpelier, Idaho where Mary Ann and Edward Burgoyne were living. Later Catherine gave up her home and spent the rest of her life visiting, mostly with Flora and often with her sister, Mary Ann Burgoyne, who was widowed in 1902. She had a fine sense of humor but was never loud or coarse. She looked like a dignified queen with her pretty face and white hair. She always put soft curlers in her hair at night. She always wore a lace collar and brooch, a lapel watch and an apron..
