Know your Eynon and Related Families by Luella Grace Eynon Garton: According to personal records kept by three of Richard Eynon's children, Margret, Martha and Mary Ann, they each said they were baptized in 1849 in Wales. Catherine was bapt. Jan 18, 1852 in Wales. Martha was the first of Richard's children to emigrated. She left Wales in 1861 on the ship Chimboraza, 16 Apr 1861. On this same ship was a young Welsh LDS man named David Rees. It is not known if they had met previously. They were married aboard the ship. They were young and strong with a devoted love for the gospel. They pushed handcarts to Utah and settled in Bountiful, Utah. They next moved to Willard. Pres. Brigham Young then asked them to colonize Logan. They built a red brick two=story home across the street from the Logan Temple. Some say that they owned the first opera house in Logan. David asked for permission to marry into polygamy. So he married a German widow. She gave permission only if they did not have to live in the same house. So he settled her on a farm. She was sealed to her husband, 21 Dec 1861. She died at her home in Logan, 22 May 1923. They are in the Who's Who of Utah.
