"Izarial"

In 1808 Hugh and brother Azariah received a land grant in Washington County (probably later Mississippi)-- recorded among Washington County, AL records. There is also mention in Missippi Territory records of a Tinnin Trading Post among the Choctaws in 1811. That too was apparently a joint venture with brother Azariah. Then in 1812, back in Sumner Co, he and brother Azariah bought their father's Mansker Creek land from other heirs. They sold it in 1814 and Hugh moved to MO, where he got married and son Azariah was born (1816). By 1820 [I've changed that to 1818], he had moved on to Lawrence Co. Arkansas.

Hugh's younger brother, Azariah, accompanied Hugh to Cape Girardeau, MO, where he married Susan YOUNT in 1817, and they had a son Hugh (married Balbina TUCKER and was in Perry Co. MO in the 1850 Census).

Sent to me Mar 2005 is a photocopy of some sheets from a probate file "Inventory and Appraisement of the Personal Estate of Peter Gross deceased held at his late residence in Cape Girardeau County by George Hieldebrand administrator of said estate this 22nd day of April 1834" It then goes on to list all sorts of things like cows, geese, hogs, butter churn, rifle, etc. for a total of $236 in value. The appraisers were Azariah Tinnin, Henry Smith and William Weldon. - Will Johnson, Professional Genealogist, wjhonson@aol.com
