Lewis Duvall, Gent, and Martha Ridgley had four daughters. Ann, the youngest, was born 23 September 1709, in Anne Arundell county, Maryland. She was baptized 29 September in All Hallows Parish church, the same day that her mother was buried. - By 1718 Lewis had settled in Dorchester, South Carolina, on the Ashley River, where he was soon joined by his daughters Martha, Susanna, and Ann. They were his coheireses when he died in 1724. - Ann married Joseph Way 3 Sept 1728 in South Carolina. Their children were Elizabeth; and Joseph Way, bap. 2 April 1738, into the "Independent Society in Dorchester". In 1734, Joseph Way went to Maryland to try to break the entail on "Middle Plantation, inherited from Ann's grandfather Mareen Duvall, but failed. He returned to South Carolina where he died. - Ann married 2. Thomas Sachervall [sometime after 1738], with one son, John Sachervall (identified in a 1761 deposition). - Ann married 3. John Winn [before 1753], with one daughter, Catherine Winn. - About 1753 Ann and husband John Winn moved, with other Dorchester Congregationalists, to St. John's Parish, George. - Ann died 5 Aug 1761, in Georgia. - In 1761, Ann's son Joseph Way, having collected 5 depositions from persons who knew his mother and grandfather, along with his Certificate of Baptism, began the process of finally breaking the entail on "Middle Plantation".
