Valedictorian of the Story City High School class of 1915, she was a student at St. Olaf College from 1916-18. She was a member of the St. Olaf Choir directed by F. Melius Christiansen. In 1918-1919 Anna attended Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, where she received scholastic honors. An excellent pianist, Anna taught piano to the youth in Story City for 36 years and was organist at St. Petri Lutheran Church for 27 years. She enjoyed comedy routines with her brother-in-law, Jack (Melburn) Donhowe in local talent Library Variety Shows. Her children have fond memories of hearing Anna play piano duets with her sister, Charlotte, and piano trios with daughters Marjorie (cello), Katherine (violin) and granddaughter Anne Marie (cello). She died of ovarian cancer in the Story City Memorial Hospital.
