He graduated from Long Prairie High School in Long Prairie, Minnesota in 1940. H e attended St. John's University in 1940 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, July 1, 1943. Released to inactive duty Dec 18, 1945. He received his doctor's degree from the college of Dentistry, Univ. of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, Mar 15, 1947. He practiced dentistry in Estherville, Iowa from 1947 to 1950; then he served as a Navy Dental Officer in the Korean war from 1950 to 1953. After discharge he established a private practice in Del Mar and San Diego, California. He was active in Rotary Club, the Southern California Violin Makers Association, and the American Dental Association.
