Adam married "the girl next door", Barbara Henry of the Jacob Henry farm. Shortly after their marriage, the couple move to the city of Wabash.

Adam was employed at the Pioneer Hat Company, as were a number of his relatives. The company is no longer in business, but was located where the Ford Meter Box Company is now located.

A book about Adam's life, entitled Adam Lower, a Citizen of Wasbash, Indiana, was written in 2009, and a copy is in the archives of the Wabash County Historical Museum.
