Information on Andrew Cowan

NOTE: this source claims that Andrew Cowan's parents are William Cowan and Elizabeth Woods, others claim he is the son of John and Janette Cowan. More research is necessary to conclusively prove who Andrew's parents actually were. It is definitely NOT true that the Andrew Cowan in Jefferson County TN is the same Andrew who married Mary Walker. He may be the same Andrew Cowan of Rockbrige County, but that remains unproven.

Hello Everyone,

I keep meaning to write and am sorry to have lurked so long without a post.

I am descended from Samuel Cowan immigrant, the info I have says he was born in 1690 in Newry, County Down and was married to Jennet/Janet/Janette. Their son Andrew Cowan, Sr. born 27 Sept 1741 in Augusta Co., VA married Mary Walker who was born abt. 1743 in Rockbridge Co., VA (parents were John Walker b. abt. 1713 and Ann Houston b. 1717; and according to info from this list John Walker's parents were John Walker and Katherine Rutherford)

Andrew Cowan, Sr and Mary Walker had a daughter Sally Cowan b. 1775 who married Robert McKinley on 18 Dec 1793 in Sumner Co., TN; Sally died on 24 July 1833.

I would love more info about this line and will gladly share what I have.
