Smith Willis born 1764 Antrim, Ireland married 1792 Washington Co Virginia Mary McMullen.
Smith lived York Co Virginia before Washington.
Left Washington Co Virginia and went to Wayne Co Kentucky.

Smith Willis, was a red headed Protestant Scotch-Irish weaver who emigrated from Northern Ireland to Virginia in 1789. Soon, he settled in Washington County, where he married Mary McMullen on February 7, 1792.1 They had a daughter, Susan, who married a man named Duffy and died young. John Logan Willis was born June 23, 1794. The Smith Willis family moved to Wayne County, Kentucky, about 1808 when John Logan was fourteen years old. His father purchased 150 acres of land on Otter Creek. The Willis family was listed in the 1810 census of Wayne County, and Smith Willis received a patent on his land on March 15, 1813.

SMITH WILLIS...was b. ca. 1764 in Antrim, Ireland, mirgrated as a small child with his parents (thought to be Gedediah WILLIS of Northampton Co., PA where that name is located in the 1790 US Census).
The family settled in Northampton Co., PA. from which location he entered the military as a Revolutionary War soldier serving under Capt. John Craig.
Later he moved to York Co., PA.
Then after a few years he relocated to Washington Co., VA. (southwestern VA) where he married Mary McMULLEN.
Said to have moved to Wayne Co., KY. in the late 1790s; however, he paid taxes in Russell Co., VA. in 1797, '98 and '99.
(Smith Willis is on the 1804 and 1805 tax list of Lee County, Va. The 1800 census for Lee Co. Va. was lost.ruthnevada 22:32, 14 June 2011 (EDT))
Mary McMULLEN WILLIS died in Wayne Co., KY. ca. 1828.
Smith WILLIS then moved to Morgan Co., TN. where his daughter, Elizabeth WILLIS GUFFEY resided.
He met and married the widow, Eleanor FULTON in 1836 by whom, at the age of 74, he fathered a child, David WILLIS, who was born in 1838.
Smith WILLIS died in Morgan Co., TN. in 1849.
Smith WILLIS and Mary McMULLEN WILLIS had at least three children:
1) John Logan WILLIS b. 1794 in VA. d. 1873 in Houston Co., MN. He mrd. Frances McHenry WALLACE in 1818 in Wayne Co., KY. They moved from Wayne Co., KY. to Davidson Co. (Nashville), TN after about five years (1823) they returned briefly to Wayne Co., KY. until 1828 at which date, they moved to Ripley Co., IN. After his wife's death in 1869, John Logan WILLIS moved to Houston Co., MN where he died in 1873.
2) Susan WILLIS b. ca. 1795. d. as a child;
3) Elizabeth WILLIS b. 1797 probably in VA. although she report birth place as KY. in Census records. She mrd. William GUFFEY in 1819 in Morgan Co., TN. where they raised their family of ten children. Elizabeth WILLIS GUFFEY d. in Morgan Co., TN. in 1877.
