- ↑ Information as per Marriage Certificate No. 7587, County of Shonohomish, Wa. Bride's name given as "Etta".
- ↑ This was the first house that the family lived in after moving to Oak Harbor. Margy recalled that the family loved being on the beach. Being from the panhandle of Texas, this was their first time being near the salt-water and they had great times playing on the beach.
- ↑ This property was purchased from Harry & Anna Fakkema. The legal document states that he purchased it for ten dollars. The property consisted of at least 40 acres which makes this price seem unreasonable. Margy Porter Admiral stated that her brother, Marvin, was working for Harry Fakkema and that Harry, in reality, sold the property to Marvin who purchased it for the purpose of providing the Sherman Porter family with a home. Sherman repaid his son once he started working as a boiler fireman at NAS Whidbey.
