Patrick and Margaret were married on 11 February 1870. Patrick was a farmer. Their first child was Michael Coyle, a red-haired boy, was born in the township of Moate in County Cavan, Ireland on 24 November 1870. He was baptized on 26 November. Later his mother had other children, but Michael was always special to her. She decided that she always wanted him to stay with her. Patrick Coyle and Margaret had six other children, born in Ireland: Bernard, born 13 February 1872 ; Catherine, born 23 December 1873 , ; Maria (or Mary), born 29 January 1876 and Baptized on 30 April 1876 ; Patrick, born 28 December 1879 ; Margaret, born 16 April 1881 ; and Thomas, born 21 August 1883. ,

Patrick was the next to leave Ireland, arriving in New York City on 19 October 1885. He came aboard the ship S. S. Circassia. The ship’s passenger list shows Patrick to be a 45 year old farmer. , Patrick was to remain in the United States for the rest of his life.

The rest of Patrick’s family left Ireland. Margaret Brady Coyle came to the United States with a party of seven other family members: five children (Brigid, Kate, Patrick, Maggie and Thomas), her brother Bartholomew Brady and a Margaret Brady (possibly a niece). Strangely, Bernard Coyle is not listed with the family. Brigid Coyle is listed but it is unsure who she is. Perhaps she is a daughter who dies later in Connecticut. The group arrived at the Port of New York on 21 May 1886. The boat was called the City of Berlin. The Coyle family settled in Waterbury, Con-necticut. Margaret’s brother went on to live in East Orange, New Jersey.

Patrick and Margaret Coyle had four more children, all born in Waterbury, Connecticut. James J. Coyle was born on 16 April 1887. , Bridget, who was called Bea, was born on 21 December 1888. , This was three years exactly since her sister Maria had died in Ireland. Mary Ann, also called Mamie, was born on 7 March 1891. , Last, William was born on 29 June 1894 There was a span of 24 years between the birth of the oldest son, Michael, and the youngest son, William.

Patrick Coyle and family were living on Ridge Street in Waterbury, New Haven County, Connecticut in 1900 at the time of the U.S. Census. He was a laborer. Margaret was shown to be the mother of 11 children, 10 living. With the exception of her oldest child, Michael (who was living in New York City with his wife and family), all the children are listed: Bernard, Kate, Patrick, Margaret, Thomas, James, Bridget, Mary A., and William. The children, according to the Census, ranged in age from 24 to four years old.

In 1910 Patrick and his wife were still on Ridge Street in Waterbury, Connecticut. He was a Laborer. The handwriting on this census report is very difficult to read. It looks like he was a laborer in a cemetery. Three daughters were living with their parents: Margaret, Bridget, and Mary. Margaret and Brigid were school teachers.

In 1920 much of the Coyle family was living close together. Patrick and Margaret were living on Woods Street in Waterbury. Daughters, Margaret and Beatrice, lived with their parents. They were school teachers. Daughter Mary Ann and her husband, William Cass, lived next door. Son, William Paul Coyle, and his family lived on the same street also. The Coyles also had a home in Milford, Connecticut. It was south of Waterbury and located on the beach.
