Edward Mobberly, (Sr.), b. 5/13/1696, South River Parish, A. A. Co., MD, d. 1761, Fairfield Co., SC.
m. (1??) ca. 1719 Anne ___??, wf. in 1747, d. aft. 1747 & bef. 1751
m. (2??) ca. 1748/9 Susannah DuVall [she was wife in 1751 per deed][Formerly she was said to have been Susannah DeRuel]
[he was in Frederick Co., MD in 1741; when he sold his land in MD, there was no release of dower{which indicates that there was a first wife who was dead at that time}; by 1749/52 he was in Lunenberg Co., VA, sold land there 9/4/1762 and 9/28/1762{Hill p.239} at which time he lived in Craven Co., SC; seems to have taken up SC land ca 1750s but not titled to him until 1760]
NOTE: The name DeRuel has not been found in any published record other than Wm. Woodward Dixon's book "The Mobleys and Their Connections"[which was cited in George Hill's book "Hill and Hill/Moberly Connections of Fairfield Co., SC"}. Recent research by Anne Willis indicates that she probably was Susannah DuVall, daughter of Lewis DuVall, whose 1724 will listed daughters Martha, Susannah & Ann. Lewis was a son of Mareen DuVall, Huguenot, immigrant to MD and owner of Cattail Meadows in Prince Georges Co. ca 1692-1702.
