Left To survive, our pioneer ancestors needed many things; a few could be obtained in trade, but most they had to make for themselves. Somethings could be obtained through agriculture and husbandry, but much was gotten through hunting and gathering natural resources. This page provides links to articles about "Needful Things" of all types. In some cases its hard to separate out "things" from the tasks needed to acquire them, and from the resources from which they were obtained. Thus, its difficult to write an article about "maple sugar", without discussing "harvesting maple tree sap", and "Maple Tree's'. However, with some exceptions, the focus on these pages is on the raw materials, or the final product. Articles about the process of gathering raw materials, and them into a product are found under Work and Tasks in Southwest Virginia.
