Next step: Review your GEDCOM [8 November 2010]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded vajda.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing.

Note: if your gedcom contains many errors or multiple families, we’d ask that you resolve and correct the errors, delete this gedcom and re-submit it without the errors before merging it with families already on WeRelate. If the gedcom is very large, we’d suggest breaking it up into separate files (or families) and importing them one at a time, which makes the review and correction process easier.

Click here to review your GEDCOM

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

Rodgers/Sparks match [18 November 2010]

Hello JimV,

Welcome to WeRelate. As you probably have figured out by now WeRelate is a collaborative effort. I noticed that Person:William Sparks (93) and Person: William Sparks (83) seem to be the same person. If it is OK with I would like to merge these two Person Pages? I will also check to see if the wife is the same person. I think she is so will merge her Person Pages too. If you have a concern please leave a message on my Talk Page by clicking on the blue name to leave me a message. Do you have any other sources for the Rodger family or Sparks family's? Do you plan on adding these sources? It has been a while since I researched the Sparks family. I do need to add more sources. I will wait 24 hours to give you a chance to respond. Thanks, Debbie Freeman --DFree 22:42, 16 November 2010 (EST)

Hello JimV,

I have had a chance to look in more detail to the two William Sparks. They are father and son. Adding dates and places helps a great deal. As discussed earlier I will add more sources for these two, please leave a message if you wish to discuss this in more detail. Unfortunately there are two Aquilla Riddles. Do you know which is the right one? Thanks, Debbie Freeman --DFree 01:01, 17 November 2010 (EST)

Debbie,
Thanks for the note. The research of my aunt indicated that these were indeed two separate William Sparks, and they were father and son. I don't have access to her records to verify this, however, and all of my information on Sparks and Rogers comes from her. I don't have any information on the Riddles family. Thanks for taking interest.--JimV 22:37, 17 November 2010 (EST)
Hello JimV, In case you are interested on the Sparks Family Association website :sparksfamilyassn(org) is pretty good article (mentioning sources) by Paul E Sparks called "44. Isaac Sparks Sr of Estill Co. KY (Born about 1740 died about 1816) and his Descendants" which seems to be the source for your family information. It does mention sources about the William Sparks family. It looks like it mentions an Aqiulla (Squire) Riddle who seems to be born 10 March 1778- and died in Estill Co., KY on 3 May 1836. By using the census info he has guessed the approximate ages of William's children. Hope all is well, and Good Luck I forgot to mention I am a descendant of William's brother, George. Thanks Debbie Freeman --DFree 22:53, 17 November 2010 (EST)

Gedom and military data [19 November 2010]

Hello Jvajda, I noticed your recent edit summaries. Have you experienced troubles with the military data importing with your gedcom upload? Were they in the gedcom but missed by WeRelate's system? If you think this might be a bug with WR's software, I'd suggest you leave a message on User talk:Dallan. --Jennifer (JBS66) 12:40, 19 November 2010 (EST)

Yes, for some reason none of the military events and employment events that were in my GEDCOM were imported. I haven't checked the rest of the fields yet. I'll let Dallan know. Thanks.--JimV 12:46, 19 November 2010 (EST)

John Burg [14 July 2011]

My name is Veda Brown Journagan. I am a relative of John Burg. I have the same obituary information. My Great Grandfather was John Burg and my Great Grandfather was John Burg. My Grandparents were Lewis Earl Brown and Florence Burg Brown. My father is John Lewis Brown and Donna Brown. I have been doing alot of research on Ancestry and was not aware of this website. I merely googled Rupertentoth and John Burg's name and the site came up. I was shocked that anyone else was researching him. I thought I knew where most of the immediate Burg relatives were, but obviously not. I was hoping to find an email for the town of Rupertentoth or some official address for the library nearest there to see if I could research Casper Burg. You did have pictures of his grave which I did not have. Can you tell me if I can print of the page directly from the website. I would be interested in corresponding directly through email if you would be willing. You may contact me directly at [removed to prevent spam --JimV 11:40, 14 July 2011 (EDT)].

In the last month I have done alot of research on Ancestry on the wife of John Burg, Carrie Douglas. The Douglas ancestry appears to go back to the 900s in Scottish lords. If you would like I would be happy to share that. I'm not that familiar with the rules for the site, could you explain what they consider to be primary sources.

How are you related to the Burgs and what do you know of the Burg in Germany?

I'm so glad to make your acquaintance and look for to your response. God bless, Veda Journagan--vjournagan 23:11, 5 July 2011 (EDT)

Veda, Thanks for getting in touch. I'll be emailing you shortly. --JimV 11:28, 14 July 2011 (EDT)
