The official enumeration date was 31 March 1901.
This was the first Canadian census in which actual birthdays were recorded. However, it should be noted that the year of birth was not always accurate. Also, there are situations in which the day and month do not match vital records - it is possible that a few census takers filled in fabricated information when they were not able to ascertain actual dates. Therefore, birth dates should be verified with other sources when possible.
