This Ordnance Survey map of 1944 from A Vision of Britain through Time locates the rural districts in existence in Wiltshire between 1934 and 1974.
Mere and Tisbury Rural District was a merger of the earlier rural districts of Mere Rural District and Tisbury Rural District. The rural district was in the southwestern corner of Wiltshire with Somerset and Dorset across the county borders to the west and south. To the north was the rural district of Warminster and Westbury, and to the east that of Salisbury and Wilton. Mere and Tisbury Rural District existed from 1934 until 1974 when it became part of the Salisbury District.
