Ellington is a small village on the coast of Northumberland, England. Ellington is 4 miles (6 km) from Ashington, 6 miles (10 km) from Morpeth and 20 miles (32 km) north of Newcastle upon Tyne. The population of Ellington as of the UK census of 2011 was 2778.

Ellington village was the site of the last remaining operational deep coal mine in northeast England. Ellington Colliery closed on 26 January 2005. It was the last deep mine in the UK to extract coal from right under the sea.

Ellington was a township in the ancient parish of Woodhorn. It became a separate civil parish in 1866. From 1894 until 1974 it was part of Morpeth Rural District. In 1974 rural districts were abolished and Ellington became part of the Castle Morpeth District until 2009 when Northumberland became a unitary authority.

The hamlet of Linton was transferred to Ellington from Widdrington in 1888.
