Wilson was a farmer. The 1830 census shows Wilson living with his parents in Roane County, Tennessee. Wilson and his parents moved to Warren County, Kentucky about 1833. The 1840 census shows Wilson living with his parents in Warren County, Kentucky. Wilson married MARTHA JANE ELROD, the daughter of MICHAEL ELROD and ELIZABETH DAVIS, on April 10, 1845 in Warren County, Kentucky. The 1850 census shows Wilson living with his family in 2nd District, Warren County, Kentucky. Wilson and his family moved to Barton County, Missouri in 1855. On September 1, 1856, the United States deeded land to Wilson Rector in Section 26, Barton County, Missouri. On March 18, 1859, Wilson R Rector and his wife deeded land to John Ferguson in Section 26, Township 33, Range 29, Barton County, Missouri. On August 20, 1859, James H Stirman deeded 80 acres of land to Wilson R Rector in Section 20, Township 33, Range 29, Barton County, Missouri. This deed was filed on April 7, 1860. The 1860 census shows Wilson living with his family in Newton Township, Barton County, Missouri. Family legend says that Wilson served during the Civil War in the army of the Confederate States of America. He was reported to have been killed in battle. No records have been found to support this claim. On August 3, 1869, Barton County, Missouri deeded 80 acres of land to Wilson R Rector in Section 20, Township 33, Range 29, Barton County, Missouri. This deed was filed on March 26, 1870. On January 14, 1881, E W Jenkins deeded land to Wilson R Rector in Section 29, Township 33, Range 29, Barton County, Missouri. References
