JACOB PEAKE RECTOR was born May 9, 1837 in Warren County, Kentucky. Jacob was a farmer. Jacob was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Dade County, Missouri. The 1840 census shows Jacob living with his parents in Warren County, Kentucky. The 1850 census shows Jacob living with his parents in 2nd District, Warren County, Kentucky. Jacob and his parents moved to Barton County, Missouri in 1855. On May 20, 1858, Jacob Rector and his wife deeded 160 acres of land to Jacob P Rector and James L Rector in Section 26, Township 33, Range 29, Barton County, Missouri. This deed was filed on February 9, 1867. Jacob married JANE ELLON PERRY on October 23, 1858 in Milford Township, Barton County, Missouri. The 1860 census shows Jacob and his family living with his parents in Newton Township, Barton County, Missouri. On March 20, 1860, Jemima Rector deeded land to Jacob P Rector and his wife in Section 35, Township 33, Range 33, Barton County, Missouri. Jacob served during the Civil War in the army of the Confederate State of America. He enlisted in Company A, Hunter's Regiment, Shelby's Brigade, Price's Division, Missouri Cavalry from Spring 1861 to 1863. Jacob later enlisted in the army of the United States of America, Company I, Second Regiment, United States Volunteer Infantry. Jacob enlisted at Rock Island, Illinois on October 13, 1864. He was discharged on November 7, 1865 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He served as a regimental teamster. He was described in his enlistment papers as having grey eyes, fair complexion and being 5 feet and 7 inches tall. Jacob returned home after the Civil War to begin his life again. On February 8, 1867, Jacob P Rector and his wife deeded to James L Rector in Section 34, Township 33, Range 29, Barton County, Missouri. On February 12, 1867, James L Rector and his wife deeded land to Jacob P Rector in Barton County, Missouri. This deed was filed on February 1, 1869. On February 12, 1869, James L Rector and his wife deeded land to Jacob P Rector in Section 26, Township 33, Range 29, Barton County, Missouri. This deed was filed on March 14, 1870. Jacob died on August 25, 1868 in Milford Township, Barton County, Missouri. He is buried on the Rector Homestead in Milford Township, Barton County, Missouri. References
