William (X) Poage's will--To wife, Sarah; eldest son, Robert (land joining James Henry, John Moore); to son, James; son, William; son, John; to daughter, Elizabeth Poage, 150 acres joining Hugh Beard, Jno. Cunningham, Andrew Purris (youngest daughter Elizabeth); to eldest daughters, Agnes, Sarah, and Isabel Poage. Executors, wife and sons Robert and James. Teste: Robert McCormick, James Henry, Robert Moore. Proved, 23d September, 1799, by Moore and McCormick. Sarah and Robert qualify. James Poage refused to execute.

  • Marriage Record: 1799—December 9, Robert Carson and Wm. Carson, surety. Robert Carson and Sally Poage, daughter of Wm. Poage. Robert is son of Samuel Carson, who consents and states Robert was of age last spring. Teste: David Carson. Sally is also of age.
  • Marriage Record: 1800--November 3, William Poage and John McFadden, surety. William Poage and Polly Wright, daughter of William Wright, deceased, and Mary Wright, who consents. Teste: Wm. Carson, Anne Henry. November 1, 1800. To the Clerk of Augusta: My son, Wm, Poage, son to the deceased Wm. Poage, after having served his apprenticeship with Robert Carson, blacksmith, applied to me for my consent in case of marriage between him and Polly Rite, which I give in presence of Wm. Carson. Robert Carson will also send a certificate in presence of the same witness.--Sally Poage. Teste: Wm. Carson, Wm. Roades. I do hereby certify that Wm. Poage served his time with me and I give him a clearance with me forever. In presence of Wm. Carson.--Robert Carson.
