- Marriage Record: Marriage Celebrated by Rev. John Brown: 1793, September 5 - James Poke [sic] and Sarah Henry. [Source: "First Marriage Record of Augusta County, Virginia, 1785-1813", comp. by Col. Thomas Hughart Chapter, D.A.R., Augusta County, Virginia, pub. 1962].
- Page 32.--1st February, 1799. William (X) Poage's will--To wife, Sarah; eldest son, Robert (land joining James Henry, John Moore); to son, James; son, William; son, John; to daughter, Elizabeth Poage, 150 acres joining Hugh Beard, Jno. Cunningham, Andrew Purris (youngest daughter Elizabeth); to eldest daughters, Agnes, Sarah, and Isabel Poage. Executors, wife and sons Robert and James. Teste: Robert McCormick, James Henry, Robert Moore. Proved, 23d September, 1799, by Moore and McCormick. Sarah and Robert qualify. James Poage refused to execute. [Note: James Henry who witnessed the will of James Poage's father, William Poage, was the father-in-law of this James Poage]
- Marriage Record: 1800--November 3, William Poage and John McFadden, surety. William Poage and Polly Wright, daughter of William Wright, deceased, and Mary Wright, who consents. Teste: Wm. Carson, Anne Henry. November 1, 1800. To the Clerk of Augusta: My son, Wm, Poage, son to the deceased Wm. Poage, after having served his apprenticeship with Robert Carson, blacksmith, applied to me for my consent in case of marriage between him and Polly Rite, which I give in presence of Wm. Carson. Robert Carson will also send a certificate in presence of the same witness.--Sally Poage. Teste: Wm. Carson, Wm. Roades. I do hereby certify that Wm. Poage served his time with me and I give him a clearance with me forever. In presence of Wm. Carson.--Robert Carson.
- 31 Oct. 1806. Will Book 10, page 309 - James Henry Sr’s Will, To wife, Mary; daughters, Sarah and Nancy; son John; son James; to Sarah Alexander, wife of Wm. Alexander; to granddaughter, Matilda; children, viz: James, Robert, Sarah, Nancy, Mary, John. Executors, sons James and Robert. Teste: Jno. McFaddin, Samuel Eakin, James McClung, James Poage, Proved, 28th August 1809, Executors qualify. (Note: James Henry was the father-in-law of James Henry).
- 23 Oct. 1812 - Augusta County, Virginia County Court Judgements - File No. 926.--Henry vs. Henry's executors. Mary Henry, widow and relict of James Henry, who died testate in Augusta, will dated 31st October, 1806, complains that she has not received her part of the estate. James's daughter Sarah has married James Poage and moved to Ohio. James's daughter Nancy has married Charles Henry and moved to Tennessee. Spa. dated October 23, 1812.
