Personal History
William Overton, (first) son of George Overton of Branston, carpenter, by Emma[1] Hall,[2] was born on 12 March 1848 at Branston, Lincolnshire, England; the birth was registered on 20 April by his mother, Emma Overton of Branston.[2] He was baptized on 2 April 1848 in the parish of Bardney.[1]
Marriage and Family

On 28 February 1870, William Overton (age 21) of Ingham, plumber and glazier and son of George Overton, carpenter, and the widow Rebecca Cunningham (age 28) of the same place, domestic servant and daughter of John Driffill, bricklayer, were married by certificate at the Free Methodist Chapel in Silver Street, city of Lincoln, by the minister George Turner. The marriage was witnessed by (Rebecca's father) John Driffill and Hannah Maria Driffill.
